Meet the Becky the founder of Corcamar and the product developer and designer.
I have been extremely lucky to call Cornwall my home for the majority of my life and have always found solace and calm in swimming and the ocean. You will often see me bobbing around on the south coast or supporting people with water confidence.
As is often the case, the best ideas come from being in the ocean, on this occasion it was the bracing seas of Fistral Beach, Newquay with a little body surfing that inspired the idea that cork would be an ideal alternative to this challenge.
I was reminded that when I was a youngster my fathers garage was full of cork products that had stood the test of time and high seas. So the journey begins to return to what was considered the best material for the job, and now could help us save the environment we live and swim in.

The story of these products was borne out of the need for a sustainable alternative to the EVA floats and kickboards, that cannot be easily recycled and contribute to the global problem of ocean plastic.

Our Brand Ethos
At Corcamar, our ethos is built on sustainability, innovation, and a deep connection to the ocean. We craft eco-friendly products from renewable cork, reducing plastic waste while supporting a healthier planet.
Beyond sustainability, we are passionate about helping people build confidence in the water. Our mission is to inspire a love for swimming, improve technique, and encourage stronger connections with the ocean.
Through ethical sourcing and thoughtful design, we aim to protect the environment and empower individuals to embrace the water with confidence, skill, and respect for nature.
FAQs
Who founded Corca Mar Swim floats?
I’m Rebecca, the founder and designer behind Corca Mar. I’ve lived in Cornwall most of my life and have always found peace and purpose in the water. Corco Mar began with a simple idea - to create sustainable, beautifully made swim floats that don’t harm the oceans we love.
What inspired you to make cork swim floats?
The idea came to me during a cold sea swim at Fistral Beach. I noticed how many swim aids were made from plastic foam, which eventually breaks down into ocean waste. Cork felt like the perfect alternative - natural, renewable, and just as buoyant.
Why the name Corca Mar?
It comes from corcho (Spanish for cork) and mar (sea). Together they represent everything the brand stands for — nature, water, and care for the environment.
Where are Corca Mar products made?
All Corca Mar swim floats are designed and handcrafted in the UK. The cork is responsibly sourced from sustainable forests in Spain and Portugal, and every float is hand-finished to ensure comfort and quality.
Why do you use cork?
Cork is renewable, biodegradable, and naturally buoyant. It’s soft to the touch, durable, and long-lasting, making it a brilliant eco-friendly alternative to foam or plastic floats.
Who are Corca Mar swim floats for?
Corca Mar floats are made for everyone who loves the water — from sea swimmers and Blue Tits groups to beginners, families, and swimmers with accessibility needs. They’re designed for all abilities and ages.
Do you make accessible swim products?
Yes. I can adapt floats for people with disabilities or extra mobility needs to make swimming more comfortable, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
Do you support charities or community projects?
Yes. Every personalised float includes a £2 donation to Surfers Against Sewage or The Wave Project, supporting cleaner seas and accessible swimming across the UK.
What is the ethos behind Corca Mar?
Sustainability, craft, and care. Everything is designed to last, made with natural materials, and focused on helping people connect with the water in a way that’s kind to the planet.
Can I collaborate with Corca Mar?
Absolutely. I love partnering with swim schools, inclusive projects, and eco-conscious businesses that share the same passion for sustainability and access to swimming. Just send me a message.
